I The new EPGC202CR cryogenic laminate from IZO-ERG – resistance to extreme low temperatures

IZO-ERG is launching its EPGC202CR cryogenic laminate engineered for use in extreme low-temperature applications (down to -196°C).

On top of its excellent mechanical and dielectric properties at continuous operating temperatures up to 130°C and its V0 flammability rating, EPGC202CR laminate has also been tested for performance in low temperatures.

Our EPGC202CR laminate conforms to EN60893 for the type EPGC202, and to ANSI/NEMA IM 6000 for the type FR-4.

EPGC202CR - properties

In testing, the laminate has been demonstrated to retain full structural integrity even after repeated exposure to liquid nitrogen and helium. Microscopic analysis of the laminate structure did not confirm microcracking.

Improved mechanical properties at low temperatures

The tests completed on EPGC202CR laminate have shown an improvement in mechanical properties, including:
  • flexural strength,
  • impact strength,
  • modulus of elasticity
  • tensile strength after exposure to liquid nitrogen and helium.

Thermal conductivity and expansion

  • Thermal conductivity decreases the lower the temperature of application, making the laminate ideal for insulation in cryogenic systems.
  • The coefficient of thermal linear expansion is low, which minimizes the risk of material deformations in extreme conditions.

Possible applications

Energy and gas industry: tanks, pumps and electric motors for LNG, LPG, ethylene, oxygen, hydrogen and helium.
High-voltage electrical engineering: transformers, compensators, superconducting electromagnets.
Aerospace: components of rockets, research stations and research equipment.
Extreme refrigeration: systems for very low temperatures.

EPGC202CR is a material that combines high mechanical strength, excellent insulating properties and reliability in extreme conditions – the ideal choice for the most demanding industrial and research applications.
